Fantastic game. Horrible Graphic “Update”. Workaround to restore the good graphics described below.

I have owned this game for years it seems. I play several games a day and once I discovered that I could REVERSE the graphics update ended up buying all of the additional armies. All of them are great adding unique game play options except maybe the Dancer which seems to be the favoured “Gang up on and KILL!” units. Mississippi and Sharrash are especially fun.

Now the HUGE problem is the “graphic update”. It really destroyed my enjoyment…it was a gut level turn off which I have never experienced in a game before. I stopped playing it completely as it is now insipid, and I feel sorry for anyone who has to use it. The designers should have given the OPTION to change to the more modern tile set, instead of foisting it on us. It has been investigated by various people and there is NO reason they had to change the tiles. They just did it and the game is much worse for it.

But I got the old board and tiles back. I had a time machine back up with the old version in it. So I deleted the game off my iPad, and replaced the app from my back up. Then I reinstalled the game again. I had the game back as it should be, and went back to playing many games a day. I then discovered I can buy the armies without updating the game to the horrible graphics so I ended up BUYING THEM ALL.

If the designers are reading this should wake you up…the redesign has cost you goodwill by the games fans and also likely money in add on sales.

I hope they update it so you can opt for the older tiles, and then start improving the Ai.
